• Pantyhose – One of the most popular hosiery, pantyhose starts at the waistline and extends down to the toes. To keep the garment from falling down, the panty hose as an elastic band around the waist. The pantyhose will either be seamless or have a seam visible running down the back of each leg. They are available in a wide array of materials – such as spandex, silk, nylon and lace – and various colors.

• Tights – These types of hosiery is typically made with fabric that is thicker than other type of hosiery. They are available in a wide array of patterns, textured and colors. Tights are a great during the colder seasons.

• Thigh-Highs – As the name suggests, thigh highs go from the thigh down to the toe with an elastic band at the top to prevent them from falling down. Some wearers use garter straps clipped to the thigh highs to help keep them up and bring a bit of sexiness to the garment.

• Knee-Highs and Anklets – Many people consider these types of hosiery as more of a dress sock category. These are generally made from thin material that is breathable but also tight enough to not fall down. Knee-highs come to a bit below the wearer’s knee, while anklets go from the anklebone to the toe.

You can find hosiery at just about any department store, and you can often find good deals with hosiery wholesale. With that said, you should avoid purchasing cheap hosiery. Cheaply made hosiery doesn’t last nearly as long as their higher-quality counterparts and can even develop runs within a few hours of wearing.

There are a lot of “rules” out there about how to choose hosiery and match it with your wardrobe. Remember that you don’t have to follow the rules and should go with what makes you feel comfortable and happy.
