On the bottom of most office chairs we see small wheels or “casters.” I even have some snap on casters on a couple of light weight storage bins in my home, but I don’t think they are strong enough to use on chairs, especially ones in an office that sees heavy use. Using a threaded stem casters would be more appropriate for an office chair or any kind of cart that will get heavy use. I mean, in an office environment with standard chairs, you may have one person weighing 120 lbs. and another weighing nearly 300 lbs. If you want to be able to support that weight you need wheels (or casters) that are strong enough to support the weight.
